Moving can be a stressful experience. We’ve curated the following tips to help!

Keep it Simple
Write the location that each individual box belongs in. This creates a seamless unboxing experience.

When disassembling furniture, put hardware in a plastic bag and affix it to the corresponding piece (however, do not apply tape or any adhesives directly to polished or painted wood surfaces).

Pack one room at a time. Avoid mixing things from different rooms in the same box; it will make unpacking more time-consuming.

Always pack heavier items on the bottom and fill the remaining room in the box with filler or lighter items. A good rule of thumb is that it's too heavy if you can't pick up a box with ease.

Wrap small items that can be easily lost in brightly colored tissue paper before placing them in boxes.

Have area rugs professionally cleaned before your move. They will return from the cleaners rolled, wrapped and ready for packing.

Because reusing and reducing are even more important than recycling. Recycling takes a lot of energy. Did you know that cardboard boxes that have excessive glue or tape can’t even be recycled? To the landfill they go! Our totes are infinitely reusable. Another little-known fact: bedbugs love cardboard! So beware of those boxes you pick up for free.

How many totes should I get to move?
Answer
We’ve set up packages based on number of bedrooms and the “average” mover. You have an option to add additional totes after you’ve chosen a package. So, if you’re a hoarder, you should add a couple extra and if you’re a minimalist, perhaps take a step down.

Are there any delivery fees?
Answer
There's no fee for delivery or pick up for Hendricks and surrounding counties or if you live on the ground floor or in an elevator building. Other counties do have a fee depending on distance. Also, If you'd like the totes delivered or picked up from your walk up apartment there's a $9.99 fee per floor.

Do I get to choose my delivery time and date?

Of course! We’ll work with you as best we can to make the drop-off and pick-up as convenient as possible.

Can I keep my totes longer than 2 weeks?
Answer
Absolutely! We offer the ability to rent up to 2 weeks during the check-out process. If you need longer than that, we have reduced rates for longer term rentals. Give us a call for more information on how to schedule.

Can I use Tote It Up if I am using movers?
Answer
Of course, movers love our totes too! If you want the movers to pack your belongings, let them know you already have totes. If you will be packing yourself, simply pay the movers to transport the totes.
